If you're here you're probably a fan of westerns. Otherwise, you're probably lost down an internet rabbit hole. If you're of the first ilk, I do believe this is a hidden gem. For me, the characters are as real as the setting and Robert Peecher has constructed a time and place I can see clearly and want to visit often. At the time of this writing, there are three Moses Calhoun books but it's my fervent hope there'll be many more as I consumed them quickly. In the meantime, I've started Peecher's Four Days Outside of Del Norte and I'm grinning from ear to ear. If you're just wandering through, good luck to you on your travels. If you want to sit a spell and get acquainted with Moses Calhoun, I believe you'll find occasion to pass this way again..
This one is worth your time if you enjoy an adventure along with gaining a bit of knowledge about how folks lived back in the 19th century if they didn't cling to civilization.
My first book by Robert Peecher, but not my last. I admit my preference to mountain man stories, so this one struck home for me. Excellent story, excellent character development. Anyone who likes this genre will love this book

Loved this book. I like his writing style. He imparts his knowledge of the era without be so overly descriptive that you are lost or bored. Can't wait for book two.
