US Open 2021 Qualifiers: Schedule, Timings, prize money, LIVE stream; all you need to know about year's fourth Grand Slam- The much-awaited US Open .The tennis calendar is back on track in 2021 after the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted much of the 2020 season. The US Open is back at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in New York and will be showcasing some of the biggest stars in the sport.
The men's field will be without some of its star power for the second consecutive year. Neither Roger Federer nor Rafael Nadal will be taking part in the US Open. Federer underwent knee surgery earlier this summer and hopes to return to the court in 2022. The Swiss tennis star did participate in Wimbledon earlier this summer, but suffered another knee injury at the Grand Slam tournament. Meanwhile, Nadal has been dealing with a chronic foot injury and recently announced that he is sitting out the rest of the 2021 season.
Defending US Open champion Dominic Thiem will also miss this year's US Open as he deals with a wrist injury. Like Federer and Nadal, Thiem is going to be on the shelf for the remainder of the 2021 tennis season. Thiem suffered the wrist injury in Mallorca earlier this summer.
While there will be a significant amount of the sport's biggest stars sitting out, Novak Djokovic will be participating in the US Open. Djokovic will be looking to pass Federer and Nadal for the most Grand Slam titles in history. Djokovic, Federer, and Nadal currently have 20 Grand Slam titles apiece. Djokovic earned his 20th Grand Slam title in July when he won at Wimbledon. With a win, Djokovic would also become the first male player to win the calendar year Grand Slam in the Open Era, after winning the Australian Open, French Open and Wimbledon this year.

Ashleigh Barty and defending US Open champion Naomi Osaka are the two favorites in the women's field of this year's US Open. Earlier this year, Osaka made headlines when she said that she wouldn't fulfill her media obligations and eventually withdrew from the French Open. Osaka withdrew from Wimbledon before making her return to light the cauldron and participate in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
While there will be a few of the sport's biggest stars absent at the US Open, the field will still have plenty of exciting action in the coming weeks.

Even casual tennis observers look forward to the U.S. Open in New York, and the 2021 edition is nearly here. Flushing Meadows will host the 2021 U.S. Open beginning on Aug. 30 and stretching well into September. Novak Djokovic is grabbing the headlines on the men's side as he looks for a 21st grand slam title. The 2021 U.S. Open field also includes some of the best challengers in the world, even without the presence of former champions in Stan Wawrinka, Dominic Thiem, Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer.
Caesars Sportsbook lists Djokovic as the betting favorite, and that comes as no surprise. He is currently listed at -150 (risk $150 to win $100) in the 2021 U.S. Open odds to claim the title. No other player is assigned better odds than +400, with Daniil Medvedev coming at that price. Alexander Zverev, the runner-up in 2020, is +550 in the latest odds. On the women's side, Serena Williams won't be participating at the US Open due to a hamstring injury. This is the same injury that caused Williams to miss the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In addition, Sofia Kenin, who is the No. 5 ranked player in the world, will miss the US Open due to a recent positive COVID-19 test. Kenin had been dealing with a foot injury that she suffered at Wimbledon earlier this summer.
