Both the New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles are going through similar moments right now. Neither team is expected to make a playoff run and they both have young quarterbacks under center.
That means that, even though the upside is clearly there, these teams will spend most of the season focusing on developing talent. But, who knows? Maybe they'll surprise us and make a strong push.
The New York Jets landed a true gem in Zach Wilson. He shined and dominated at BYU and has a cannon for an arm, but it's pretty clear that it'll take some time before he's able to make the transition to the pros.
As for the Philadelphia Eagles, it seems like they're not completely sold on Jalen Hurts despite his strong play at the end of last season, so he'll have plenty of motivation to prove that he's the real deal.
The 2021 NFL preseason game between New York Jets and Philadelphia Eagles to be played on August 27 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey will be broadcasted in the United States by DAZN.
As per usual, bookmakers don't expect this to be a high-scoring game with any heavy favorites. Right now, the Jets are favored by 4 points, while the game total is set at just 33.5 points.
After a week of joint training camp practices with the New York Jets, the Philadelphia Eagles will play their final preseason game Friday night on the “road” — up the street in New Jersey.
Sirianni had mentioned last week that he wasn’t worried about showing too much of the offense against the Jets, despite playing them again during the season, notably because they don’t face off again until December and by then, there will be a whole season of film for New York to watch. Still, you wouldn’t expect the Eagles to give too many looks to their other opponents during Friday’s preseason game. Sure, we’ve gotten a bit of a taste of what this team will look like, but for the most part, game-planning against Sirianni’s first-year offense will be tough the first few weeks of the season.
Wins and losses don’t matter all that much in the preseason, but here’s hoping Friday night’s game is at least more tolerable than last Thursday’s blowout against the Patriots. It’s not that losing 35-0 is a huge deal, but it was wholly unwatchable and several hours of nothingness we’ll never get back.
The players reported to the NovaCare Complex on July 27 for the start of Training Camp.
