If preseason rivalries are a thing, then the Carolina Panthers and the Pittsburgh Steelers certainly have one. How can you not when you’ve matched up in each of the last 17 summers and in 21 exhibition games total?

So, in anticipation of No. 22 and their 18th consecutive clash, here are some of the best shots from over the years in this Panthers-Steelers preseason “rivalry.”

The Panthers conclude the preseason tonight in Charlotte and to keep you from flipping around channels to find the NFL exhibition, we have you covered.

Today’s 7:30 p.m. game between the Carolina Panthers and Pittsburgh Steelers will be broadcast on the Panthers TV Network, a collection of affiliates inside the team’s market footprint.

If you’re in Charlotte, the Panthers’ preseason games will be on WSOC (ABC). In Raleigh or Durham, you can catch the game on WRAL (NBC). For a full list of Panthers TV affiliates, check below.

These stations should be available over the air and included in basic cable or satellite packages, or on YouTube TV and Hulu+ Live TV subscriptions for cord-cutters.

Last week’s local broadcast of the Panthers-Ravens preseason game seemed to get the kinks worked out. In Week 1 in Indianapolis, the broadcast dealt with technical difficulties that prevented fans from seeing or hearing much of it.

Jamir Jones, Quincy Roche, Cody White, Rashaad Coward, Mark Gilbert.

They are a handful of players who have flashed during this Pittsburgh Steelers training camp. They also are five players who only have one last chance to impress.

The Steelers’ preseason finale is 7:30 p.m. Friday at the Carolina Panthers. They’ll likely practice at least twice after the game and before Tuesday’s 4 p.m. deadline for the final roster cut. But let’s face it, coaches probably will have made their final decisions on based on how the fringe roster players perform on the Bank of America Stadium grass.

Young edge rushers Jones and Roche could be competing against each other for one spot, and White is aiming to nab the No. 5 or 6 wide receiver job. Coward is hoping to stick as a backup offensive lineman, while rookie cornerback Gilbert is making a desperate final attempt to impress.

Here’s a handful of higher-profile things to watch Friday:

1. Dwayne’s World

This is an easy headliner. The former star college quarterback and first-round pick who has become a fan favorite being handed the keys to the offense for the majority of a game.

It’s only the preseason, but this potentially is one of the most important starts Dwayne Haskins ever has made. Some believe he still has the chance to unseat Mason Rudolph as the Steelers’ No. 2 in 2021. But even if that’s not the case (Rudolph won’t play Friday), a strong performance against the Panthers’ starting defense could propel Haskins’ future prospects with the Steelers in the post-Ben Roethlisberger era.

Also, don’t forget about Josh Dobbs. This isn’t the first time it has appeared like a foregone conclusion he was a mere fourth-stringer. Can Dobbs, like he did in 2018, shockingly make the roster? With covid still a concern, the Steelers also might keep Dobbs on their practice squad.

The annual meeting between the preseason rivals is a tradition unlike any other, and tonight's the 22nd installment and the 18th straight year. The Steelers lead the all-time preseason series 12-9, if you're counting.

But this one's different, since the preseason as a whole is. With just three games to evaluate, teams were forced to decide anew how they wanted to deploy starters and evaluate the guys trying to make the bottom of the roster.

The Steelers had a bonus exhibition (since they played in the Hall of Fame Game), so they're parking most of their regulars and starting Dwayne Haskins at quarterback tonight. The last time he saw the Panthers, it didn't go so well, as he threw two picks and was benched in the fourth quarter by a Washington Football Team on the verge of the playoffs.

But tonight, the Panthers are only really worried about the Panthers, so here are five things to keep an eye on:
