She's kidnapped and repeatedly lied to, used, threatened and her so-called mate and lover ultimately gives her back to her abusive husband whom he knows will kill her on principle alone for giving herself to an Orc. But she keeps going back to him because she can't resist the "great sex" and his taste and smell?! And he's supposedly better than her husband because he sacrifices for the "GREATER GOOD"?!? HA! There is no LOVE without TRUST, so I call B.S. on this whole story for the simple facts that he is also a liar and user, but also for the fact female lead is smart enough to quickly grasp schemes, but only ever use her nethers to think!!! It'd be more believable if she had distanced herself PHYSICALLY AND EMOTIONALLY from him and slowly worked her way back to him instead of immediately just jumping on his D and immediately forgiving him...

This is actually the first time that I've noped out of a book when I got so near the end...but I did...and now I hate that I wasted both my time and money on this thing. I feel like I have to warn other potential readers, this is NOT a love story. I repeat, NOT a love story! Are you considering buying this book because the idea of a smutty, sweet, opposites attract fantasy/romance - starring an unlikely (but loveable) hero - sounds good to you? If yes, then this isn't the book for you!Despite what other reviewers say, this book isn't sweet and Grimarr is no hero. In fact, he's a liar, manipulator, user, and is just downright ruthless. He betrays the heroine in a truly unspeakable way....like a way that can never be forgiven, but...oh gosh...he kinda feels bad about it, so we should all still swoon and be happy that everything works out in the end right? Nope! Nope! Nope!The reveal of Grimarr's true plan for Jule completely ruined this book for me. Like another reviewer put it - "lies are not sexy. Manipulation isn't sexy." Unless you like your "heros" with a twisted side of evil, this book will probably disappoint you.

I could not finish the book.Lies and threats are not sexy. Broken promises are not sexy.I really liked the characters and world but the story was not substantial. This had potential.Does not matter how great the sex is or how magically pulling the orcs are if there is no true love, respect, understanding, growth as individuals and a couple, and some kind of mutual want to be next to the person.Well, besides "must make babies" and "omg he so good in bed". This gets old.

In reading some of these reviews, I became concerned this would be another story in which the main male character was a jackass for no discernible reason. This is not the case. The author has done an excellent job (imho) of constructing a backstory and culture that together make his actions understandable. I was shackled to this book to the final word, and I regret nothing! Read all the way through, friends, and you will be satisfied.

Wow. I alternated between 4 and 5. This was amazing. A storyline I’ve never read before. Orcs and humans. Fraught with such cultural differences, unimaginable to a human female. Amazingly hot sex and a strong female. So why dither about the rating. The hero was amazing but I’m still not sure...well I don’t want to give it away. It was great. Well worth the read. Can’t wait for the next Orc to find his human.
