Unsure if he can afford to fight, Bruno seeks the help of the pack’s lawyer. Idris Vaughn is the top trauma surgeon at Venetian Hills Medical and a dragon shifter originally from Wales. He’s also the youngest surgeon to reach his level. Idris has a big house and lots of money, but those things don’t keep him warm at night. Idris longs for the love of a fated mate and the joy of a family but, he hasn’t had any luck finding the one person destined to be his. Neither man expected to meet their fated mate at the scene of an accident, but that’s what happens. Between the custody battle, navigating a new relationship, and trying to figure out Bruno’s ex-wife’s motives, these two men will have their work cut out for them when it comes to their happily ever after. Bruno is back at his home pack, a single father taking care of his three sons. He's doing everything he can to help his boys yet he barely pulls ahead. Then disaster strikes at his work, a friend is injured, and in steps the surgeon that is his fated mate.My main issue is so much of this story is internal dialogue. Even an emergency surgery which included telling the nurses every little detail to set up the room, walking himself thru his options, telling those in the operating room how he'll do it, how to pull out the gear shift, the double checking for any other bleeds, you name it and I think I could handle that surgery. What it missed was having the seventeen year old wake up and thank Idris.Maybe overexplaining details is how this author writes. Funny, when Laura broke out police custody, there wasn't an explanation. But that was okay. I'm contrasting two events in the story, one over explained and one that wasn't. I guess I'm saying there needs to be a balance. The viewpoint was switched and easy to follow. Yes, the punctuation was overdone on commas. There wasn't a lot of 'meat' to the story, just happiness that Bruno, omega wolf shifter found his fated mate. His family is secure and he is happy. Obstacles were handled quickly. - Dan's WifeNote: If that is Idris on the cover, dragon shifter. . . Then the rest is Bruno and his three boys. Unfortunately the youngest doesn't shift yet. Was a nipple piercing mentioned? Tattoos? Huh.
I stopped reading when the boys got a pet shark. This story was a stretch to read. While I do like books in this universe where people are shifters this one was outlandish.The author spent more time talking about frivolous things like describing to me how he made breakfast, literally telling me how he made eggs! instead of explaining to me how the dragons magical powers work.And if I had to see the word Yukon one more time!
Weird pacing issues and serious problems with comma placement made it uncomfortable to read, despite how good the story itself was. Basically they need an editor, or at least a better beta reader.
I really enjoyed this book! I’ve never read this author before but I think I’m going to start. Her characters were developed and you really felt their story. I love the HEA! It was light hearted! Refreshing!
This story was sweet and loving. I understood where Bruno was coming from in wanting to take things slow because of the kids. Although, as a mate Idris would be meeting the kids sooner than in a complete human relationship. Idris was great. He was understanding and supportive of Bruno. I love him. The conflict with the ex-wife allowed us to see what was happening when it was mentioned in Taming the Feral Tiger (Asphalt Bay Pack Book 4). This was a fantastic and delightful book. I would recommend it.
