All through the first 1/2 of book (I COULD NOT FINISH IT!) it was "Lady this and "Lord" that--these two knew each other and had many talks and their families lived next to each other. After two meetings they would have been on first name basis!!! THEN this writer (I think English is SECOND language) has sentences that aren't -(after talking for two pages how they LOVED the gardens) Hero says, "I heard that you spend an awful time there" (She meant an awful lot of time there but didn't know the difference) and then "I have been doing of than since I returned."???? What does that mean. by this time I skipped to almost the end to read that the hero's mother took the two sisters "INTO her wings"????? (I think she meant UNDER her wings meaning to protect and shelter).When her sister was taking too long--heroine said, "Sister, put your foot to the pedal! We must be ready soon." HELLO??? This is the early 1800's??? FOOT TO THE PEDAL???????Does this writer have ANY pre-readers to read her books before publishing? YUCK---SAVE YOUR money!

Pros: An intriguing story with a very interesting mystery. I loved the characters; they were fleshed out very well. All were likable except for the villain. I enjoyed the descriptions of scenery and homes but did not find them as well fleshed as the characters themselves. I am glad the mystery was resolved and that all ended up happily ever after.Cons: I am NOT a grammar freak and I generally do not have problems with reading a book with some errors in evidence; however, this book was laden with them. It was truly distracting. I had to re-read most sentences to determine what the author was trying to say. Spelling errors were legion, along with awkward-to-very poor word choices and characters being called by the wrong name. Punctuation errors were numerous. I tried to keep up with all the errors, but at 27% I just gave up.If 3-1/2 stars had been available, that would have been my choice. That said, if it had not been for the storyline, all the errors would have caused me to give up. If you truly love historical romance, then you may be able to enjoy this book and ignore the abundance of errors.I received an advanced copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily posting a review. This opinion is entirely my own.

Historical romances are one of my favorite genres to read and I really enjoyed this story.Lilliana and her twin Nora Swan are being raised by their step father Lord Rothwell after their mother’s death. Their stepfather tells them they are now women and this is their one and only season. Their only chance at marriage and they must try to marry well. Liliana Swan is not ready to find a husband, but she doesn’t want to disappoint her stepfather and her sister. Lady Liliana is the level headed, calm and caring sister . She is determined to have a marriage of love like her parents had, but is determined to try to find someone to marry to make her stepfather happy. Her sister Nora is determined to make a marriage of convenience to a wealthy nobleman to continue to live a life of luxury to which she has grown accustomed to.Sebastian is the second son of a Duke who was satisfied with his carefree life as the second son. He was traveling the world when his brother and best friend dies alone of a heart attack. Sebastian knows in his heart that his brother did not die of heart failure and is convinced he was murdered. He is determined to prove his brother was murdered and to find his brother’s killer no matter what he must sacrifice . Sebastian’s parent have a masquerade ball to honor His return home. Liliana and her sister with their stepfather are invited to the masquerade ball to honor Lord Longcross’s return. At the ball Sebastian and Liliana meet and fall in love. And Sebastian discovers the truth of his brother’s murder. This book had mystery, suspense, betrayal and a love of a lifetime.I thoroughly enjoyed reading Liliana and Sebastian story.

This book was filled with extremely poor sentence structure, omitted words, wrong words, extra words, misspelled words, grammatical errors and, a total mishmash of mixtures of medieval, Victorian and, Regency Era language, that it totally ruined what would otherwise be a five star novel.The storyline was awesome and would have been a bite your nails, sitting on the edge of your seat, book, had I not struggled to read and re-read a sentence , in order to figure out what it was supposed to be saying.Fanny, you need a new editor and a proofreader. This many errors in one book, is not acceptable.

This is the story of Sebastian and Liliana. He’s a Marquess and wants to see the world before he has to marry. She is a romantic and wants to marry for love unlike her identical twin who wants a marriage of convenience to have a wealthy man take care of her. He’s called back to England and told that his brother the heir died of a heart ailment. He knows he has to marry but wants an interesting and wonderful wife but he has to find out the truth of his brothers death first. At a ball thrown to welcome him back he dances with Liliana and they start falling for each other. They meet again at a lake and they find that they want to be together. But he explains about his brother she says she has doubts about her fathers death also. They want to invest together but someone wants them stopped and sets about finding a way to get what they want. Will they find a way to find answers? I voluntarily reviewed an Advanced Reader Copy of this book.
