Brilliant treatment of letters from WWII. The letters themselves were beautifully written, with descriptions worthy of skilled authors’ styles. Transports the reader right into the lives of the people involved. Wonderful photos of people and documents. Letter writing is almost a lost art. Read this; then try writing a letter to someone you love!!!
Reading about the younger version of my beloved Aunt and Uncle has been a treasure. It was hard to put the book down, finding myself reading until 1 in the morning. I was able to visual the young couple as they went about their days, as if I were sitting on the edge of their beds (or bunk) pondering their next words while they wrote to each other. I cried as I read and I laughed, I was there! How lucky we are that these letters survived.

Love, Love, Love this book. Amazing story of a young couple keeping love and romance alive through letters. A peek into their families during this time of war and uncertain outcomes.
Once you start reading this amazing true love story, you will notice the transformation of two lives starting in the 1940's. It's well-worth the read! In addition to the many actual letters shared by the lovebirds, Lottie and George, there were copies of clippings, newspaper articles, Western Union telegrams, postcards, etc., included in this book.
