Hashtag Rogue (The Agency Files Book 5) by Chautona Havig Review
I had waited for a few years for this installment in The Agency series, but was slightly disappointed with the results. Loved that Flynne had the guts to follow her convictions and go rogue. Loved the dialogue between Flynne and Erica. Although I do agree with Erica in that I am really tired of the word "totes". Must say it was great to see so much more of Erica. But I have to admit the book left me confused. There are so many layers. Even characters from previous Agency books that have no bearing on the current case are mentioned. You are still left wondering who the bad guy is, at least I was left wondering. I am also wondering about Flynne's background. For someone so smart why has she developed this valley girl persona? It has been said that this book is a stand alone. I highly recommend that you go back to the beginning. I think you will enjoy it more.In full disclosure, I received a copy of this book in exchange for my review.
Phew! I waited a long time for this book to come out to wrap up the loose ends in my thoughts during the previous Agency Files book, and this book is complex! This suspense book has everything a suspense reader wants to see/or doesn’t want to see (if you count the plot twists that you did not predict correctly or that you did not want to read!). Threats are coming from all different sides. Everyone could be a suspect, yet no one is a suspect concretely reader’s mind. Some really happy things take place, and some really sad things also take place. Chautona Havig has done a good job of balancing it all out and the story does wrap up at the end...unless you read the little bit tagged at the end of the book that leads into the next book. I cannot wait for Ms. Havig to write that one!! I definitely recommend this book.
I have read all of the previous books in this series (most more than once) and this is a great addition! Flynne, who is brilliant and quirky, takes matters into her own hands when she suspects that former agent Keith’s girlfriend is in danger. There’s a lot more to it than this. You can read the book as a great stand-alone, but you will probably want to get the other books and read them all! I highly recommend and can’t wait for the next books in the series!
Hashtag Rogue, the fifth book in the Agency series, is my favorite of the series. It is, as Ms. Havig’s books always are, well-written, the characters were well-developed, and the situations plausible and interesting. Flynne is a great addition to the team and after reading this book you’ll “totes puffy-heart†everything for a good, long while. One of my favorite things about this series is seeing old faces popping up and following their stories at the same time we’re meeting new characters. Each book can be read alone, as can any book really, but to get the full effect of the overall story arc, you need to read the whole series in order. They’re definitely worth it!
Couldn’t put it down! A little confusing and unclear in parts with who is talking but I see why it was done to keep the bad guy a secret. Looking forward to the next one!
