Phoenix Rise: A paranormal shifter gay harem novel (Phoenix ShiftARS Book 1) by Charlotte Brice Review

If you want a steamy read with a great story line than you need to read this book. This is an m/mmm book and was tastefully written. So be prepared for a lot of sexiness.Wholy Heck is this book on fire. Here you follow Harlow, who is enlisted in an elite program for shifters. As he is getting ready to start his new post something goes wrong. However, he does meet his new team who is Riley, Troy and Beckett. He also finds out some interesting news about these three. Also Harlow is worried about his girlfriend Liz since he has not contacted her when he was supposed to. With that being said you get some scalding hot scenes that will make you heat up as well. You also get some mystery and action from the book. Some pretty intense moments to make your heart pound so hard you will need to put the book down to gather your wits. This book is freaking amazing and a must read. I cannot wait for the next book.

Honestly wish I could just gives us 2 1/2 stars. This book started off with such promise. It started with an attempted kidnapping scene, which is really interesting and got me hooked, it very quickly went downhill from there and never picked it’s self back up. This story is very disjointed and chaotic and really needs a good grounding. It jumps around a lot without any real story building and honestly some of those “steamy” scenes come off a little toxic/forced, at least to me they seemed put there because the writer ran out of story and couldn’t figure out how to move it along.This story also really should have come with some warnings about suicide/attempted suicide. To me it just felt like they was a lot of words for very little actual substance. I am very disappointed in this… One of the other parts was the dude is a trained a special ops agent and he has to constantly scream at himself to think how to escape from a kidnapping and yet can’t escape it’s a little far-fetched. The best part of this whole book was the failed kidnapping in the beginning and even that part of the story was lacking….

The characters are well-rounded and the plot is interesting; however, it read a bit on the chaotic side. That is to say it felt like the storyline needed to be grounded. It seemed to jump from one thing to another without any depth or explanation. On the positive side - it's definitely steamy and the characters are likeable.

This is the first book in the series and it sets the bar high. I really enjoyed the stories and the characters are to die for. Harlow stands up for himself though he just wants to find a safe place to call home. I love his inner monologues. This book does not skimp on the heat factor 🤤. You get to know some of the back story for the guys in his unit but looking forward to learning more.

I honestly loved this!!!!!!! Charlotte did an amazing job I honestly wasn’t sure I would like a book like this but honestly it’s been one of my favorites so far of 2020! And that’s saying a lot because I read a ton of books! I loved Harlow and the guys character development was natural and happened flawlessly. This was such a great book and if you haven’t read it yet you need to!
