Rise & Fall (THIRDS Book 4) by Charlie Cochet Review
There is a lot going on in this book. Romance and action and fun. I'm glad Dex and Sloane have finally gotten themselves sorted out. Now, it's Cael and Ash's turn.
I guess the best way to describe this is seeing some of the main characters have to deal with issues and grow a little.
Taken off the investigation, Dex ignores orders. Sloane is injured, relying on Dex, and instead Dex is focused on getting revenge. Involving his ex also, by setting up a base camp at his office. After professing his love and how much he cares, this behavior is disappointing and seems out of character. Especially after Sloane does not allow him to visit after his previous injury and how upset Dex is by that. At the hospital, begging the doctor to see Sloane, Dex says how every moment is precious. Yet his focus shifts. Dex feels guilty about what he's doing and pushes Sloane.That said, we learn more about how secretive the THIRDS are. Dex feels guilty and pushes Sloane. The book well written, yet frustrating. Relationshipd deepened. Emotions sorted. Feelings discussed. Honesty shown to be necessary for a partnership and team.3.5 rounded up because of Sloane, Ash, a s Cael.
Another 5 stars - this series just keeps getting better and better. There is a lot more of Dex and Sloane’s relationship as they continue to explore their feelings for each other and work to get on the same page. And we finally get to see another side to Dex. The one that pushed Lou away and who he was when he was working for the human police force. All of the team had further character development ... except for Rosa and Letty. They have remained pretty one dimensional. I’m hoping that’s because they’ll get their time in future books.The plot remains the weak point, but it was still good and entertaining, and I am left wondering where the overarching plot is headed.The banter in this book continues to be amazing. I was practically crying from laughter at different parts. And then the way the book ends? Perfect.The next book is focused on Ash and Cael and I screamed a little when I saw it. I can’t wait to learn more about them individually and better understand their relationship. I’m hoping for lots of schmoopy sweetness because even though Cael can hold his own, Ash is a big old teddy bear around him.I’m so glad I finally got around to reading this series. It’s so much fun!
The ending of book 3 tore our hearts to shreds and this book jumps right into the action. With one of their own down Destructive Delta proves that they're a family and coming for one means coming for them all. Dex brings all his detective tools to the forefront and all the relationships are tested.Charlie Cochet is ramping up the action and suspense in every book and sending hearts everywhere on a wild ride.There's still humor and family times snuck into the chaos, which is what is really the heart of this series. There are some tough scenes and it can be crazy at times, but you can feel how much the characters care about one another.There's a lot of set up for what's to come with some of the other characters in this series and I'm excited to see where they go from here.
