Insights on Matthew 1--15 (Swindoll's Living Insights New Testament Commentary) by Charles R. Swindoll Review

First of all, I would like to say that I love these commentaries and I own all that are available. (Including the NLT version of Swindoll's bible.) I have read them all except this first half of Matthew that I just recieved. I'm disappointed in the decision to make it two parts. It feels like a greedy cash grab. This first part is only 300+ pages. (Luke was 600+ pages)It HAS been a long time waiting for this book and maybe that figures into the decision to make two parts but the decision to charge $30 per book is still evident.I'm confident that the substance of this commentary will be up to Dr. Swindoll's standards, but I do not like feeling exploited.*Edit- I finished this commentary and was right. This definitely lives up to the excellent standard set in all of his work. The price has been lowered since I purchased it, which is also good. I am very anxious and excited for July 7 and part 2 (b).

I am always thankful when reading a book by Chuck Swindoll. This study in Matthew is no exception. Explanations of the original Greek text and the resulting “Ahhhh Ha” moments have resulted in deeper appreciation of my walk with Christ. You won’t be disappointed, read this study book.
