By the Sea is a wonderful first novel and I know Ms. Renalds' work will continue to be wonderful. I loved the characters very much and believed the plot made sense. The only thing I struggled with was how the male character could change that much from a very self-focused person to the loving guy. Although the author did show how the changes occurred, it was too wide a gap for me. Maybe if he had been a little less selfish to begin with, I don't know. I'm not a novelist. But regardless, I still was motivated to finish and enjoyed the end. It did make sense. And of course, the little boys were adorable!
Claudette captured my interest almost immediately so I could not wait to read what was happening next. The book is about a budding romance between two people that have very different lifestyles. The couple experience many unexpected events and challenges. In addition to a romance the theme of hope and faith bring the couple together. Claudette uses scripture to guide the reader to a broader perspective then the story line. I hope there will be another book written by such a talented spiritual author.
A delightful feel good story with strong Christian faith shining through. A real witness to the live and power of God. I described it to a friend as similar to Nicolas Sparks touched by God. I enjoyed it thoroughly for its well developed and engaging characters with a believable plot line.A great first book for this author!
This book was beautiful from start to finish. I couldn't put it down. Alex fell for the little boys immediately. You will need to read it. This is Claudette 's first book and I look forward to her next one with great expectations.
By the Sea is a beautifully written novel that grabbed my attention immediately. The characters are diverse yet relatable and made me laugh, cry and cringe, often all in the same paragraph.My favorite element of the story is definitely the chemistry between Alex and Sarah. I couldn't stop turning the pages to see what these two characters would do next. Would definitely recommend this book.
