As a graduating resident, I found this book extremely helpful because it explains concepts behind ECT through an easy-to-understand manner. This book covers multiple concepts very thoroughly, such as basic science of ECT, consultation for ECT, techniques during ECT treatment, as well as adverse effects. I found it particularly helpful during my ECT rotation. This book will be an excellent addition to your library if you're interested in ECT.

This text is intended for MDs and medical students to provide a comprehensive overview of what ECT is, how it is practiced, the various pros and cons of different anesthetics and muscle relaxants, etc. That said, it is written in reasonably plain English considering that it is a medical text, and is accessible to a reasonably well informed layman. If you're considering ECT, do yourself a favor and take the time to educate yourself on the procedure. Reading this book is a cost and time effective way to do so.
