This beautiful book arrived in perfect time for our family! We were expecting our 4th child any day, and in fact scheduled to be induced the day after we received the book. Since our older kiddos woke early the next morning, we went ahead and took that opportunity to read them Quinn’s Promise Rock, which encouraged not only the two of them (ages 6 & 4), but also the two of us! What a beautiful reminder of how God cares for us and his promise to always be with us. Such a wonderful book to read to our children before an exciting event but one that is also filled with some unknowns; we grabbed a small rock for each to have as a promise rock and wrote their initials on them, and they were quite excited. We highly recommend this book to anyone who can use a gentle reminder of God’s love - especially those who aren’t aware they need the reminder!
I read this book to my three children as a bedtime story. They loved the book. We had great discussion about Gods promise to us, and how we are all feeling about the recent loss of their daddy/my husband. Thank you for writing this wonderful book. I can’t wait to see what’s next. God bless you.
I got this for my kids who both have trouble with anxiety. First off I was struck by how beautiful the illustrations are. This is one of those books that pre-readers would enjoy finding all the details within the pictures. My 11 year son read it straight out of the box without waiting for me! He really liked the parts about the mountain and the cave. Once he gave it back I read it together with my 8 year old. She is an independent reader but she prefers being read to when the pictures are this lovely! She thought Quinn was really cute and she liked the father/daughter aspect of the story. A few nights after we got the book there was a bad thunderstorm and they both took turns reading it again as the lightning flashed outside. It's the type of book you can read again & again when you need a little comfort and reassurance. Despite being written in a simpler style that is usually geared towards younger kids, the message still holds true for older kids and adults. I can imagine them reading it to their own kids someday!
Quinn's Promise Rock is a gentle reminder to young readers that God loves them and watches over them, even when they feel afraid. The illustrations are beautifully done and pull you into the story. The soft blue imagery of the starry night sky and wise daddy owl flying with little Quinn gives the feeling of a calm and peaceful setting and adds to the reassuring message of God's loving and constant presence.I was provided a preview copy of this book by the publisher. This review is my honest opinion about the book.
We read this story as a family and my children (ages 8 months to 11 years) just loved it.The author does a wonderful job of tying God's promises into a cute little adventure story about a young owl and her dad.The illustrations are BEAUTIFUL and brought all kinds of fun exclamations from my kids.After reading the digital copy, they all insisted that we get the hardcover to add to our library. Now that we have it in our hands, we just love it!Whether your young one suffers from anxiety or not, this is a great little book that they are sure to enjoy.
