Under the Dancing Tree by Chip Mattis Review
The book is a wonderful story of the love and evolving relationship between a father and his daughter. The pictures are a wonderful illustration of the thoughtful writing. All three of my daughters have enjoyed the book and the moments of their life (both past and future) that are captured in the pages. This book is instantly in the rotation of bedtime stories as each read brings a new discussion of where they have been and where they will go in life. I love that the relationship between father and daughter is central and lifelong! Equally enjoyable for a 40 something Dad as it has been for my elementary age daughters.
This is a lovely book. Any child will enjoy the illustrations and the rhythm of the rhyming text. And parents will love sharing it with their children and grandchildren. It will be one of those books that young children "read along with" because they will be asking for it so often that they will have it memorized.
I purchased Under the Dancing Tree for my son and granddaughter. The illustrations are very sweet. The rhyming story shows the precious bond of a father and his little girl. I can imagine my son reading this to his daughter. I'm certain it will touch his heart and that she will also enjoy this book.
Chip Mattis did a wonderful job showing the love of a father watching his daughter grow up into a young woman. The rhyming text is musical. It is the perfect story for young children or for families with young daughters or expecting a daughter. It reminded me of "Love You Forever." This book would be a family heirloom that could be passed from generation to generation.
Very sweet verse and great illustrations! I'm sure that daughters who get this as a gift from their daddies cherish them their entire lives. Only drawback is that I wish it were longer. But I'm not accustomed to children's books, s may that may be the norm.
