Murder, Actually: Vignettes of a Private Detective by Cici McNair Review

Reading Murder, Actually is like sitting down with a glass of hearty red wine and a dish of pate, as you tuck into bowl of olives, to be savored slowly - but you can't go slowly, since the book races along, propelled by clever observations and and even some neat plot twists. Great fun, and quite remarkable that it's also based on true stories and experiences.

McNair, a real-life private eye and journalist takes an unvarnished look at life as an investigator literally and figuratively "in the weeds." Her sincerity and honesty come through in each "vignette" as does a gentle sense of humor and Southern manners. Well worth one's time.

From start to finish I couldn't wait to turn the page and see what's happening next. I felt as though I was watching her life, her adventures and her misadventures enfold right before my eyes. The things she has seen and done were far beyond my imagination. I enjoyed it immensely. If you’re looking to escape into a nonfictional world of adventure, you must read this book.
