Sarah feels responsible for her best friend, Brad’s death. He was going to be her bodyguard for one night and got shot while trying to protect her. She resigns to the NYC Police Department.Sarah hated cold winters. She decides to move to Florida. Now she works for the Winter Garden police department. She is assigned to Detective Jack Sledge who works on cold cases. Since the moment that Jack sees her, there is nothing he doesn’t like about her but he keeps it to himself. Some time later she thinks that “he oozes masculinity and ruggedness.â€Sarah notices that she has the same hair and eye color of the missing girl. It’s not the first time that a missing girl looks like her. Jack and Sarah are assigned to find the serial killer.The story has many twists and turns that will keep you turning pages. Nice descriptions that make you feel you are right there with the characters. If you like detective stories with some violence and romance you will enjoy this book.
this is a terrible book
The book starts off with a nice touch from the author about her experience whilst growing up near Winter Garden. A beautiful setting, but not such a great unwelcomed visitor to her home. Fortunately, the author was not attacked, but still, it must have been terrifying (I won’t spoil the experience).Now on to the Story:Detective Sarah Stone and her friend, detective Brad Thompson are on a stakeout when Brad is killed. This devastates Sarah, and she finds it hard to move and leaves New York for a more peaceful life with the WGPD in Winter Garden, Florida.A cold-case detective, Jack Sledge is relocated to his hometown of Winter Garden, where he meetsSomeone is taking redheads and Jack and Sarah have been assigned to the case, Sarah has the same hair and eye colour of the missing girl. It’s not the first time that a missing girl looks like her. Jack and Sarah are assigned to the case, little does the boss know the couple already have a partnership in the bedroom.Some hot scenes.
To orient the reader, WINTER GARDEN by Rebecca Winkler starts with a tiny autobiographic slice about growing up on The Farm, an orange grove near Winter Garden, Florida. It shows both peaceful and traumatic times. After all, who wouldn't want to be friends with a seven-foot-long marshmallow-eating alligator named George. But there are scarier things than gators on the 68-acre orchard.The fictional novel then begins showing Sarah Stone and her best friend Brad Thompson - both NYPD detectives - on a stakeout at a truck stop along I-95 in New York. The action ramps up quickly, but the first few chapters in New York feel like a prologue.Co-protagonist Detective Jack Sledge soon shows up, returning to his home town of Winter Garden, Florida, where he meets Sarah after she leaves New York for more peaceful life with the WGPD. But problems sometimes have a staying power one would never expect.The point of view mostly alternates between Sarah and Jack, but sometimes switches to the antagonist - a great choice. The writing is mostly clean, indicating a good review process. WINTER GARDEN would be a good read for those who enjoy some steamy romance with their crime dramas.
This book started off with such promise - The Author connected with their audience beautifully with a personal note that really made me feel a bit invested in the story. Then, quite unfortunately things plummeted down hill pretty fast (at least in my opinion)IS it well written?Sure. Not bad at allWas the story entertaining?No, not really - in fact I had to push through to get to the end.What it needed: A developmental edit from a professional editor would have really done the author a greatservice. As the story felt super jittery, did not go smooth and, at times felt extremely genre confused. A developmental edit would have fixed that.
