I am a resident of this city, and I am intrigued by information my city, state, and nation. I feel included in discussion by reading this book. I love and appreciate . . ., this is one of my favorite books.
Excellent book
My Father was assistant superintendent of the State Hospital after the war until the early fifties. My brothers and I would spend Sundays exploring the grounds and the building and having a great time while my father, a psychiatrist, made his rounds. I didn’t know all of the history until I read this book. At it’s peak, the hospital was huge. When I was in College in 1963, I worked during the summer as an orderly on H-4, hired by head nurse Dilly Rose Gulmi, who is featured in the book. The book features many great photos, and is very informative.
