Magic Ramen tells the true story behind the creation of one of the world's most popular foods.Every day, Momofuku Ando would retire to his lab--a little shed in his backyard. For years, he'd dreamed about making a new kind of ramen noodle soup that was quick, convenient, and tasty for the hungry people he'd seen in line for a bowl on the black market following World War II. Peace follows from a full stomach, he believed.Day after day, Ando experimented. Night after night, he failed. But Ando kept experimenting. With persistence, creativity, and a little inspiration, Ando succeeded. This is the true story behind one of the world's most popular foods.

Magic Ramen: The Story of Momofuku Ando by Andrea Wang Review

Magic Ramen is not a typical childerens book, however, it is a favorite in our house. It shows care for others through Momofoku Andos persuit to create an affordable and quick ramen for everyone to enjoy, specifically the poor on cold days. It exhibits persistence in accomplishing a task as he goes through trials, errors, and finally accomplishes his persuit. It is a fun and inspirational read.

I used this book in a classroom setting to help illustrate the scientific method to primary-grade children. (Using an illustrated picture book to illustrate a concept--how appropriate!) Anyway, the kids really enjoyed the evocative imagery and world-expanding narrative on the invention of "magic" instant ramen. It was an effective story for a lively read aloud, as well as for making a cross-curricular connection to science curriculum. And, yes, for students in the rural American Midwest, I then treated them to their very first Cup Noodles!

This is an unusual picture book which tells the story of the inventor of Nissin noodles, Momofuku Ando and is very accessible to its target audience, ages 4-8. However, it also doubles as a mentor text on the subject of food poverty for older middle school readers looking for an accessible text on the inventor of one of the world's most convenient foods, Momofuku Ando. Carefully nuanced pictures of impoverished Japanese post WW2 in line for noodle soup create "the emotional centre" of the book (Wang) and illustrate what inspired this inventor of noodles to pursue is dream of making nutritious food available to all.

By far one of the best books for kids!!! Who doesn't like Ramen? I love that it tells the story about how the famous Cup noodles came to be!My 6yo loved it the first time I read it and has been asking for it almost every night! I also read it over zoom to him and some friends (6 and 7year olds) and it was such a big hit!!! It also gives a theme where someone didn't give up after many failures! Super awesome lesson for the kids!

I bought this book for my child who loves ramen. I like the illustrations and the story is nice but Unfortunately I didn’t keep it. Because my child is a sensitive kid and the story was sorrowful at times. It’s a good informative story picture book about how ramen was made for the purpose of feeding people cheap and easily but it is not for us.
