I voluntarily reviewed this book after receiving a free copy. I was able to complete this book in one sitting.Grace is a college senior who has struggled with issues and insecurities from her childhood. She is assigned by the school editor to cover the star quarterback this year for the school's newspaper. The only problem, Jackson is the same individual that bullied Grace throughout high school.Jackson, the star quarterback, was the epitome of the jock stereotype - a player only worried about what people could do for him. Jackson meets Grace at a bar on campus one night when her friend Alex asks him to take her home.As time goes on, the two become closer friends. Grace overhears things that Jackson says to his friend Tyler and she doesn't understand what his words hurt her that much. When Jackson is hurt on the football field and has to come to grips with it being the end of his football career, he pushes everyone away including Grace.Will Jackson and Grace ever admit their true feelings? Will they go their separate ways? If you like romance with angst and drama, give this one a try.
Jackson and Grace knew each other in high school but he was the popular football player and she was the outcast that he and his friends picked on. Fast forward to college - he is still the popular football player and she is still socially awkward but more confident in her abilities as a journalist. They are thrown together when she is assigned to cover him and the football season for the school paper. The journey to them getting together goes through many twists and turns.I liked that all the characters in this book had flaws and had to fight to be the best versions of themselves. Grace and her friends may be misfits but they care deeply about each other. I gave it 4 stars because I felt like this book took on a few too many weighty topics - I do not want to give the book away by mentioning them all here - and it was a little too busy for me at points.I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book for an honest review.
I'm assuming this is a new author who has potential I suggest you get some Beta readers for your work because there is something definetley there , the story was good and flowed well it just needed tweeking in some places, the sex scenes could have been alot better the timeline jumped all over the place hard to keep up but same as I said potential.
Real life struggles, with humor and unexpected turns. Thought provoking Believable characters, leaves you wondering who is going to come out on top in the battle of wills and friendship.
Grace is not what you would call a model. She would be the girl with the natural beauty. The one who has a beautiful mind and cares deeply for others. Entering her senior year of college things could be going well that is until her college paper editor gives her an assignment on the star quarterback. The same said quarterback that bullied and ridiculed her in high school.Jackson has it all. great friends, supportive team and hot chicks dying to drop their panties for him at the snap of his fingers. Life could not be better. Till life throws him a curve ball. One he was not ready for.Jackson's life takes a nose dive when an accident happens. Grace is determined to be there for him even though he as said some ugly things about her. When Jackson hits rock bottom will he push away the one person who stood by his side. Or will Grace give him a chance or run away.Together these two amazing characters embark on a intense downward spiral romance that neither of them were prepared for.Wow! Great continuation of the Lakewood Romance Series. Amber Thielman has done it again and brought us a serious and intense romance. Amber has a habit of writing stories that have such deep topics. She touches on things that most people don't realize happen to people. This book in particular touches on some really sensitive topics this world faces every day. Things from abuse, depression, suicide and woman's rights. Amber really has a way of drawing her readers into the story with these types of topics that are real and deep.Overall this book is an intense, high emotional story. This book is sure to tear your heart to shreds with it's deep emotions and turmoil. The characters are so strong, yet weak at the same time and the struggles they deal with are so real and easy to imagine. I commend Amber for touching on such sensitive subjects. Bravo Amber another job well done.
