Smile by Alfred Gremsly

Read Online and Download Smile by Alfred Gremsly. Alfred Gremsly delves deep in to the psyche of modern angst. A powerfully personal collection of poems, Smile is not a light read. This is poetry that buries the reader, unafraid to drag you through the muck of life. When you emerge at the end, renewed and allowed to breathe again, you will want to find Mr. Gremsly and exchange a well earned hug. Both of you deserve it.

Smile by Alfred Gremsly Review

I eagerly awaited publication of this book and was not disappointed. These poems reflect the harshness and tragedies of the author's dark childhood and disastrous marriage. Gremsly doesn't sugarcoat his writings, he tells it exactly how it is. He doesn't shy away from the awfulness of life and in this way establishes a connection, a trust, with his readers. He gives voice to our own darkest thoughts and feelings."It feels like the first time I've spokenMy mind goes blankand I'm left fumbling my fingers, searching for thoughts that won't come out.I would like to speak to youbut the words seem hopelessSo, I say nothing at all."Indeed. Who hasn't felt this at some point?Sorrowful verse is the theme throughout this book but it is ultimately the triumph of an indomitable spirit."Another Failed Attempt"I'm at the edge of my ropeand the end of a gunMay this be the last dayI end what's begunI'm standing on a ledgewith nowhere to runMay this be the last timeI see the sunI'm at the bottom of a bottleof the pills I can't resistI'm on the edge of a bladeSliding across my wristI'm at the end of the worldwaiting for someone to hear my callIf no one is there to answerI was meant to take the fallBut on the other enda voice is pleading for my lifeAs I spit out the pillsand throw down the knifeI back away from the ledgeand lay down the gunI thank my new angelwho has just led me to the sunI think of all that's goodand the reasons to existI tattoo their lifeline numberproudly across my wristI learned that life is beautifulbut none of us is exemptand gained a new respect for lovewith another failed attemptSadness will not define Alfred Gremsly's life and he gives us hope for our own lives."You won't start to breatheUntil you get the demons off your chest"

For anyone that has had a troubled childhood, been deeply depressed, bad marriage, bad family life, or just empty, you will not be disappointed in reading this. It takes you down a dark path in Alfred's life (like many others have experienced) and come out at the end of a bright tunnel when you learn to accept what is and make the most out if life.It is hard to read the sad, but truthful feeling lots of us deal with, but at the end.... it is worth the read. You get to see that people can overcome bad feelings and make a better life for themselves.Glad I went on this journey with Alfred. He makes you feel how empty and raw life can be and how you can achieve happiness and prosperity if you just look at things in a different way and have others to help along the way.

This book was suggested to me by a dear friend. As my friend began to describe the layout and what the pages had to offer, I knew I needed to add this book to my collection. The power of Alfred G’s words immediately place your thoughts into a relatable and personal encounter, one that without his style and past experiences, you may not fully comprehend.Alfred G. truly brings our darkness to light! Battling anxiety, depression, rejection, or neglect only encourages our own self destruction. Alfred G has battled years of pain to have written with such intensity and unrefined emotion. Our eyes begin to see things our thoughts are thinking.I am drawn to these words...The prettiest eyesI ever did seebelongedto a girlwho couldn’tsee me~BlindI feel as though I’ve known Alfred G my whole life. I look forward to reading more of his work! This is definitely a MUST READ!

This book felt very familiar to me, as if I was there with the author as he was experiencing his pain. This is what great poetry does. It promotes a feeling of familiar commiseration that we can all connect to. We all have this darkness inside, some are just more honest. We need these people the most, the ones that aren’t scared to dance with theirs. I will definitely and eagerly be checking out Alfred’s other work.

This book was enticing to say the least-- It would be hard to imagine the life of someone experiencing the events and the people as presented in the book - but we all know those experience do in fact happen and those people do exist -- My admiration for Mr. Gremsly's recovery from the wretched childhood that he describes - each battle with his life that he has conquered - He should be proud as we are to be able to read of his life and know that he came out a much wiser/stronger man - Hoping for more from this author!!!!!!!
