It's a great little book for discussion about depression and suicidal tendencies.
Great author. Recommend it for teens.
YANA pulls at the heartstrings and will jerks a few tears right out of you! This amazing story follows a troubled kid who I think everyone can relate to on some level. With the kind words of an amazing teacher he is able to see a better light.I sat down one night to start the book and told myself I'd read the first 10 pages or so...that was a lie! I ended up reading the whole book in one sitting! Amy Klco did an amazing job at capturing a torchered soul looking for help with no way to ask for it!Amy Klco was and still is that kind teacher who cares about the children she has under her wing. As one of her students who she was able to help though a tough part of the year, I will never forget her kindness and compassion.
The information and insights in this book would be extremely helpful when living or working with sensitive young people. I so liked how the story developed and the way the point of view of all the characters was explored. The emotions portrayed were very real. I liked that the adult didn't just dismiss the teen, but carried deep feelings of concern and worked on conveying them. Regrets are a terrible thing to carry. I recommend this book to anyone, it's short enough to read easily but long enough to engage the reader. Especially those finding themselves in a close role with fragile teens, remembering we never really know what's going on inside until we ask or are open to hearing about them. The author certainly knows what she's talking about, and her feelings and experience show in the way she illuminates the thinking and doing of all the characters.
Amy Klco wrote this book perfectly. I can relate to it a lot. I have struggled at school and was picked on and she explains that in this book. She has also written other books, that I can not wait to read.
