Note: Meralgia Paraesthetica is numbness and pain on the outer side of your thigh from you groin to your knee. Sometimes short bursts of pain may travel all the way from top to bottom on the outside of your leg. The muscular strength of your leg does not appear to be affected.This short book on meralgia paraesthetica discusses what it feels like to the patient, the various causes of the condition, and many treatments available for the condition. The book is highly technical, using a lot of medical terminology,both in describing what causes this condition and the choices of treatment. If you look up the words you don't know in a dictionary that covers medical and science terminology (a common dictionary with 400,000 entries will usually contain medical terminology although special medical dictionaries are also available) you should be able to pick up enough information for this book to make an informed decision on what you might need to get rid of your meralgia paraesthetica perhaps by making changes yourself or by seeking medical intervention. I have selected weight loss, better management of my diabetes and hypothyroidism, plus stretching and exercise. Even the minor weight loss I have achieved so far (10 pounds) has helped along with imitating my cat's stretching motions (cats are naturally knowledgeable about stretching to keep there muscular and skeleton aspects of their bodies in great condition for all the amazing leaping feats they do daily, they really are amazing) have helped reduced the pain. I still have some numbness although less than before. I am hopefully that eventually reaching my ambitious weight loss goals will eliminate the remaining numbness by reducing all pressure on the nerve involved.Some of this information is available free on the internet medical sites for consumers but not all of it. For the length of this book it is very thorough. Except for looking up.The meaning of words, it does not take at all long to read. I really like the terseness and thoroughness of this author.
